Who we are

For over forty years, CommunityAction of Napa Valley (formerly NCCEO) has administered a wide variety of health and human service programs to benefit low-income people. Our goal has been to increase the self-determination and self-sufficiency of individuals and families who are economically disadvantaged or are senior citizens.

CANV provides a safety net for those in crisis though emergency shelter, housing and financial assistance.  It assists the homeless in rebuilding their lives by providing basic services and coaching, and connecting them to the resources they need to get back on their feet.  It helps families put food on the table and provides nutritious meals to seniors and the disabled.  It gives children from low-income families a healthy start through quality daycare and preschool services.  It provides job training programs for the unemployed including an ARRA funded culinary skills program and solar outreach program.  It also helps smokers quit smoking and provides community education to prevent others from starting.

Community Action of Napa Valley is also the coordinating and fiscal agent for the San Francisco Chronicle’s Season of Sharing Fund for Napa County. This fund provides one-time grants for housing assistance and critical family needs.

CANV is a California Community Action Organization founded May 12, 1965 as a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation.
