Napa Valley Shelter

Making a Difference

My family and I were homeless for 2 1/2 years. While living at the Family Center we were able to gain stability in our lives. I thought disappearing from their lives was the only way to save my children. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this support saved my life.

Just before the holidays, we moved into a brand new apartment. Last year I started working for Napa Valley Shelter Project. I’ve housed 45 individuals and families so far. My first permanent placement was a challenge. She now has regular medical care and is learning to trust others. I love what I do. It is my way to give back a little of what has been given to me.

It’s important to get people off the streets and into housing. That’s what Napa Valley Shelter Project does. It puts a roof over people’s heads and offers the tools to begin rebuilding lives. Napa Valley Shelter Project made the difference for us and makes the difference for hundreds of people each year.

Sincerely,
Melanie
